Other side effects that may be seen on taking this medicine include taste changes, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection. Some people may find that they put on weight with this medicine.
You should not take it if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus, if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (high levels of acid in your blood), or if you have severe kidney or liver disease. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had heart disease. It may not be suitable. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Your blood sugar levels should be checked regularly and your doctor may also advise blood tests to monitor your blood cell counts and liver function.

Brand | Glimp-1 |
Packaging Type | Alu/Alu |

Usage Applications | Hospital, Clinical |
Glimp-1 Tablet 10's belongs to a class of antidiabetic called 'sulfonylureas' used to lower raised blood sugar levels in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus - NIDDM). Type 2 diabetes develops if the body does not produce enough insulin or where the insulin that your body makes does not work as well as it should. Insulin is a substance that helps to lower the level of sugar in your blood, especially after meals.
The Glimp-1 Tablet 10's contains Glimepiride which acts on insulin-secreting cells called beta cells inside the pancreas, activates calcium channels on cells which lets insulin pass out of the cell. This insulin then makes each cell in the body take up glucose and utilize it, thus lowering raised blood glucose. Thus, it prevents symptoms of type 2 diabetes.
Glimp-1 Tablet 10's should be taken with food to avoid an upset stomach. Glimp-1 Tablet 10's should be taken at the same time of the day each time for best results. Your doctor will decide what dose should be taken for better advice and it can change timely depending upon your condition. Some people may experience an allergic reaction (skin rash, hives & sensitivity to sun rays), liver dysfunction (jaundice, bile duct blockage, and hepatitis), seizures, coma & low glucose levels. Most of these side effects of Glimp-1 Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Glimp-1 Tablet 10's should not be stopped even if you feel better, without consulting your doctor as sugar level keeps changing. If you stop taking Glimp-1 Tablet 10's abruptly, it may increase your sugar levels which could further increase the risk of eyesight loss (retinopathy), kidney (nephropathy) and nerve damage (neuropathy). Glimp-1 Tablet 10's should not be taken if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus, severe kidney or liver disease. Please inform your doctor if you have any heart disease or plan to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
